  • Job Summary

    The Linux Administrator job responsibility is to proactively monitor and maintain Linux based system for Auxis’ customers using best practices processes and methodology. Additionally, the resource is responsible for issue resolution, request fulfilment and capacity planning of the Linux solutions.

    Responsible for producing high quality deliverables in a timely fashion. Performs project management activities such as planning, sizing, and scheduling activities. Responsible for analyzing problems, developing solutions and making decisions that impact projects. Ensures systems implementations occur in accordance with established needs.

    • US Tourist Valid Visa for potential travel to US as required (cross training, operations and/or project work)
    • Resource will work Monday to Friday, mostly during business hours, Pacific Standard Time.
      • Resource will adjust its local schedule with the resources supporting this position during Daylight Savings time changes in the applicable Time Zone.


    • Assess Linux based platforms for new customer, including:
      • Determine Linux backup and restoration schedules for each Linux system and established service level agreements
      • Identify established parameters for Linux Server access and permissions
      • Review and baseline performance standards for each server
      • Definition of incident response service levels, based on prioritization and business impact
    • Linux Developing, Maintenance and Monitoring

    The first area of focus involves providing regularly scheduled maintenance of the Linux systems, as well as implement automated monitoring of the environment to identify and resolve issues that affect the its performance. It also includes the development responsibility based on Auxis customer’s business requirements as an on-going activity.

    • Maintenance involves recurring activities that are regularly performed to improve the performance, security, integrity and availability of the platform. 
    • Monitoring involves the implementation of a 24x7 monitoring and alerting tools. It involves defining the initial monitoring and performance thresholds


    • Linux Server Maintenance and Issue Resolution
      • Reviewing the Server backup and restoration schedules, including Server backup success verification and verification that all necessary elements are being backed up
      • Regular review of log files, and management of related filesystem available space
      • Monitor Scheduled job results
      • Server or Service restarts as needed based on criticality of performance degradation, or when system failures render server unavailable (based on monitoring parameters)
      • Server patch management as needed to keep current with latest stable versions
      • Code promotions to QA (if available) and Production on a scheduled basis to minimize downtime
      • Server troubleshooting and issue resolution within the scope of the support agreement (infrastructure and service level)
      • Detailed investigation and resolution of root causes for performance degradation or high resource utilization (outside the scope of the normal support parameters)
      • Detailed documentation of the Linux environment and procedures (upon request)
      • Testing and validation of disaster recovery plans (if available and upon request)
      • Upgrades, enhancements and changes to the existing support environment
      • Other tasks and activities as required and requested
    • Security Management
      • Monitor and manage access, including granting permissions and setting up different levels of access to users as required by the applications, and providing guidance on user access parameters and resolution of security vulnerabilities
      • Review and validate security status and identify/resolve identified server vulnerabilities
    • Knowledge and/or training on best practices or IT frameworks, such as ITIL
    • High moral values, proven honesty and highly ethical
    • Fully dynamic, proactive and organized
    • Fully bilingual English/Spanish (written and oral)

    Skills and Experience

    • English Language (B2+)
    • Knowledge/Training on best practices or IT frameworks, such as ITIL
    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Information Systems is a plus
    • 4+ years of information systems experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
    • Linux System expert
    • AWS (Amazon Web Services) is a plus
    • Strong troubleshooting and deployment skills
    • Strong business knowledge and interpersonal skills
    • Demonstrated decision-making and leadership abilities
    • Strong organizational and problem solving abilities
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
